SM10: Barangaroo South District Cooling from concept to operation
Graham Carter, Operations Manager, Lendlease Applied Insight
Asar Younes, Team Leader – Mechanical Engineering, Design, Lendlease Building
Richard Pickering, Director, Norman Disney & Young
Bob Norris, Energy Services Manager, Lendlease Living Utilities
Barangaroo South is a landmark development. The prestigious precinct on the shores of Darling Harbour is one of the 18 projects globally to be a part of the Clinton Climate Initiative’s C40 carbon positive development programme. A significant contributor to achieving the carbon positive goal is the district cooling system that provides chilled water to all types of building within the development. Each consumer from apartment resident to commercial tenant benefits from the integrated approach to precinct efficiency. Achieving leading performance is not without significant challenges; this session explores the challenges of:
- laying the foundations of a workable sustainability strategy,
- the precinct wide cooling design concepts and strategies employed,
- integrating the detailed design of the commercial building’s cooling systems,
- the transition from construction to the required operating performance.
The session will be followed by an optional tour of the district cooling facilities at Barangaroo South. Must be booked separately.
Cost: $45 (inc GST) BOOK NOW - Speaker Session only
