Young Achiever 2012

Daniel Tan Teng Yeow – Fantech

With only six year’s experience in the HVAC industry Daniel Tan has learnt fast and has earned himself a reputation as a ‘technical guru’ and ‘problem solver’ amongst his peers.

His greatest contribution has been the introduction of impulse ventilation and JetVent fans to Australia-  an energy efficient alternative to traditional ducted systems for car parks.

Daniel craves knowledge and explores the intricacies of technologies, how they work, where they are used and importantly, how they can be improved.  He designed the JetVent EC Series fans and is currently developing an attenuator range which will exceed all other products currently on the market.

Daniel continually strives to improve and educate the industry through the Fantech Engineers training program where he was integral to its development.

HVAC Project Excellence 2012

Pixel Building, Melbourne – James L Williams Pty Ltd

James L. Williams conducted the mechanical installation at Grocon’s Pixel building which has just been awarded the world’s highest LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating from the US Green Building Council.  Pixel achieved 105 points out of a possible 110 and has now surpassed all 44,000 buildings in 120 countries that have used the LEED rating system.

The building which is carbon neutral contains an impressive array of sustainable design components and Australia first technologies including a natural gas-fired absorption heat pump chiller that heats and cools, wind turbines, fixed and tracking solar panels and in-slab cooling.

Pixel has been an invaluable experience for all involved including James L Williams, Grocon, Umow Lai and Studio 505 and proved to be a wonderful discovery of the potential in striving for environmental excellence.

F. Mayer Imports – Bitzer Australia & Strathbrook Industrial Services

Bitzer Australia together with Strathbrook Industrial Services have combined to provide F. Mayer Imports with a world class energy efficient refrigerated space solution using heat recovery and incorporating a glycol thermal bank.

The installation of an energy efficient cold storage and distribution centre incorporates high efficiency compressors and waste heat recovery used for floor heating and evaporator defrosting, that realises a reduction of 329,000 kWh with only 3.3% of the traditional power requirement used.

The holistic combination of well insulated walls, rapid roller doors, low GWP refrigerants, efficient compressor technology and waste heat recovery results in a highly efficient, long term commercial solution.

Product Excellence 2012

JetVent Digital EC – Fantech

Fantech’s impulse technology has revolutionised car park ventilation in Australia. The company has now taken this technology a step further and developed the JetVent EC, a simple and cost effective solution to traditional car park ventilation.

The JetVent Digital EC Series features brushless DC technology in the EC motor, combined with an integrated speed controller. JetVent EC fans also incorporate a highly advanced, backward curved centrifugal impeller that is quiet and results in the most powerful impulse car park fan available when operating within a 65dB range.

The EC JetVent impulse fan is highly efficient and when combined with integrated speed control can reduce noise and lead to significant power savings.
